New York jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 7th inning plating one baserunner. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Crane(5-1) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Jim Whitney(13-8) was the losing pitcher. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Whitney was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Crane brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
