WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Jimmy McAleer robbed Bill Dahlen of a Homerun!

Cy Young hurled a 5 hitter and second baseman Cupid Childs had 3 base hits at
League Park where the impressive Cleveland Spiders beat the Chicago Colts in
11 innings 3 to 2.

The score was tied at 2 after nine. Cleveland came out on top in the 11th
inning. Jake Virtue slapped a base-hit. Jimmy McAleer was next and he
doubled resulting in an exciting win for Cleveland and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Cleveland banged out 9 hits on the
afternoon.

The win was credited to Young(24-4) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Pat Luby(10-14) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 3 hits and no walks.

Young was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the
game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt
great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope
that I can do it again next time out!'
