Left fielder Davy Jones had 2 base hits and Ed Killian was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the seemingly unstoppable
Detroit Tigers defeated the New York Highlanders by a score of 6 to 2 at
Hilltop Park.

Detroit jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Jones got things going when he reached on an error.
Bill Coughlin stepped up next and he laced a single. Sam Crawford was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out. Ty Cobb came up and he reached on an
error knocking in a run. Claude Rossman came up to bat and would ground out
plating another run. Red Downs added his contribution to the rally and
slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning. That early run support
was enough for Killian(13-5) and Detroit. The pitchers took over after the
4th inning as neither team was able to score again.

Bill Hogg(6-3) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 6 runs and 8 hits in
9 innings.
