Jack Pfiester completed the game without help from the bullpen as the powerful
Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 6 to 4.

Chicago won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning plating 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Johnny Evers led off and keyed the rally when he drew
a walk. Jimmy Sheckard was next and he grounded into a double play. Solly
Hofman then lined a base-hit. Frank Chance followed and he drew a walk. Ed
Zmich then had one get away for a wild pitch. Harry Steinfeldt contributed
to the rally and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Frank Schulte
stepped up next and he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond.
Chicago rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.

Pfiester(6-2) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Frank
Corridon(4-9) took the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 9 hits in 7 and 2/3
innings.

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Pfiester said, 'but I toughed it out and
we got the win.'
