Buddy Blattner lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the Boston
Red Sox defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 6 at Forbes
Field.

Boston came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs using 3
hits.  Joe Gordon led off and keyed the rally when he lined a single.  Birdie
Tebbetts was next and he delivered a one-base hit.  After an out was
recorded, Al Zarilla then slapped a base-hit bringing in a run.  Jack Banta
came up and he reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning.
Pittsburgh went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.  

The win was credited to Banta(4-3) who went 2 innings allowing no runs. The
losing pitcher was Ewell Blackwell(1-4) in relief.  

Wth the win Boston now has a record of 39-46.  Pittsburgh has a record of
35-50 after the loss.
