Ray Boone went yard and had 2 RBI as the Washington Nationals defeated the
Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 4 to 1 at Griffith Stadium.

Johnny Podres(1-4) pitched a fine game.  He went 6 and 2/3 innings and
surrended up 5 hits and 3 walks.  Washington had 11 hits for the afternoon
while Brooklyn had 6.  

Podres was helped out by Joe Nuxhall who recorded his 11th save.  Bobby
Shantz(3-2) was the loser.  He was unable to control the Washington offense
and allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
