The Washington Nationals came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil
the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 18
to 16.

Washington won the game with an offensive outburst in the 9th inning as they
pummeled Philadelphia for 7 runs on 5 hits.  The big moment was provided by
Frank Olin who silenced the stadium when he smacked a three-run homer.
Washington bats were very productive in the 8th inning when they had 5 runs
on 4 hits and the 9th inning which saw them score 7 runs on 5 hits.
Philadelphia scored in 8 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept
them from victory.  

John Hamill(3-17), allowing 16 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Billy
Taylor(3-6) was the loser.  He was knocked around by Washington, allowing 16
hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.  

'Washington's manager was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one
on the road like this.  We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'
