Washington started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs on 3 base hits. Cliff Carroll led off and started the rally when he stroked a single. Sadie Houck got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Paul Hines then lashed a single, and an error was also committed, knocking in a run. Jimmy Knowles followed and he laced a single scoring the final run of the inning. Kansas City had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The victory was credited to Shaw(9-15) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs. Jim Whitney(9-12) was tagged with the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 8 innings and not allowing an earned run.
