Addie Joss didn't allow a hit until the 9th inning as the St. Louis-AL Browns
defeated the Detroit Tigers by a score of 2 to 1 at Sportsmans
Park.
Joss(10-8) escaped virtually unscathed against the Detroit hitters. He was
stingy on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and 3 walks in 9 innings. The
right-handed Joss lost his chance for a no-hitter when Johnny Evers singled
with two outs in the 9th inning. Detroit tried unsuccessfully to come back
in the 9th.
The loss was charged to Jack Pfiester(11-2). 'This was a tough loss,' said
Jim Murphy, 'the kind that sticks with you for awhile.'
