WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Jim Cudworth robbed Orator Shafer of a base hit.

Charlie Sweeney allowed just 2 hits and Fred Dunlap had 4 hits and 2 RBI as
the phenomenal St. Louis Maroons defeated the slumping Kansas City Cowboys 15
to 6 at Union Grounds.

Dunlap provided much of the offense. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park
in the 1st inning, laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, lined a base-hit
in the 5th inning and singled which scored a run in the 7th inning. St.
Louis provided plenty of action in the 5th inning which saw them plate 5 runs
on 3 hits and the 7th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 7 hits. St.
Louis finished with 18 hits in the victory.

The winning pitcher was Sweeney(2-0) who allowed 6 runs for the game. John
Kirby(0-1) was the losing pitcher. St. Louis scored big getting 15 runs off
him in 8 innings.

No one has been able to stop St. Louis lately as they lengthened their winning
streak to 6 games. Ted Sullivan was upset but philosophical about the loss.
'Sometimes you run into a team that's on a roll. This was one of those
times.'
