Red Ames carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Detroit Tigers
outscored the New York-NL Giants 4 to 0.

Ames(12-10) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the New York-NL offense.
He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings. Ames struckout 10 New
York-NL batters. The right-handed Ames lost his no-hit bid when Cy Seymour
doubled with one out in the 7th inning. Detroit totaled 7 hits on the
afternoon.

The losing pitcher was Irv Young(16-7). 'Ames took our guys to school' Brian
Capsello said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a
whole lot easier!'
