Al Rosen blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies
outscored the Washington Nationals in 11 innings 9 to 8.

The score was knotted at 8 after nine innings.  Finally, Philadelphia-NL
pulled the game out in the 11th inning.  Rosen drew a walk.  After an out was
recorded, Hank Bauer stepped in and he laced a one-base hit.  Andy Seminick
then ripped a base-hit giving Philadelphia-NL the victory as 31,335 happy
fans celebrated wildly.  Philadelphia-NL out-hit Washington for the game, 17
hits to 11.  

Dizzy Trout(16-3) allowed 1 run in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. The losing pitcher was Carl Erskine(3-6) in relief.  He pitched 1
and 1/3 innings and surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
