Philadelphia-NL had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs using 3
hits. After an out was recorded, Roy McMillan opened up the scoring as he
hit a bases-empty home run. Dom Dimaggio next to the plate and he drew a
walk. Nellie Fox then slapped a single. Jackie Jensen got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Musial came up to bat and ripped a base-hit
scoring the final run of the inning. Steve Gromek(2-3) got help from Jim
Konstanty who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 1st save.
Harry Brecheen(2-6) was the loser in relief. He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks in
2 innings.
