Jake Stenzel hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Exposition Park as the Pittsburg
Pirates beat the Cleveland Spiders in 11 innings 4 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Pittsburg
prevailed in the 11th inning. Mike Smith drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Stenzel came up and he doubled making Pittsburg the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. The game was a scoreless duel until the
6th inning.
The victory was credited to Jim Gardner(2-4) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Cy Young(16-9) was tagged with the loss. He surrendered just 6 hits
