Ed Willett went the distance and Charlie Deal had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at
Navin Field as the Detroit Tigers won a thriller over the Washington
Nationals in, 7 to 6.

The game was won by Detroit when they scored a run in the 9th inning.  Oscar
Stanage ripped a single.  Willett stepped up to the plate and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Al Bashang then drew a walk.  One out later, Donie Bush came
to bat and drew a walk.  Ty Cobb came to the plate and reached on an error.
Jim Delahanty kept the inning going and laced a base-hit giving Detroit the
victory as 5,795 happy fans celebrated wildly.  Detroit finished with 9 hits
in the victory.  

The victory went to Willett(10-11) who went the distance allowing 6 runs.
Walter Johnson(22-4) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 8 hits and 2
walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.
