New York won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits. Ed Fitz Gerald led off and got things going when he reached on an error. Richie Ashburn came to the plate and lashed a single. After an out was recorded, Frankie Gustine then delivered a base-hit which scored a run. Gustine took second on the throw. Sid Gordon was up next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Del Ennis came up to bat and drew a walk resulting in an exciting win for New York and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. For the game New York out-hit Cleveland 12 to 7. Vern Bickford(6-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Howie Pollet(9-11) was hit with the loss in relief. 'That was exciting!,' Ennis said.
