Griffith(12-6) delivered a fine performance for Boston. He went 8 and 2/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 4 walks. The right-handed Griffith had his no-hit bid broken up by Shorty Fuller who homered with two outs in the 6th inning. St. Louis threatened in the 9th but Boston was able to put down the rally. John Fitzgerald preserved the game for Griffith, recording his his 1st save. The loss was charged to Willie McGill(10-13). He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and not allowing an earned run. Despite losing Charlie Comiskey was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
