TEAM RISP- Superbas: 9 for 16 Cubs: 2 for 12
WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Jim Doyle robbed Eddie Zimmerman of a base hit.

They almost ran out of baseballs at West Side Park as Brooklyn Superbas
clobbered the Chicago Cubs pitching staff, scoring 12 runs while Elmer
Knetzer(6-8), with relief help from Sandy Burk, allowed Chicago 4
runs.

Brooklyn took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning plating an
isolated run using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Tex Erwin laced a
base-hit. Knetzer followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bert Tooley
then doubled scoring the run. Both teams ended up with 14 hits on the
afternoon.

The loss was charged to Lew Richie(9-7). He was unable to control the
Brooklyn offense and allowed 14 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.

'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Bill Dahlen. Now, we just have to make this the norm - not
the exception!'
