Eddie Plank went 9 strong innings as the sizzling Philadelphia Athletics
defeated the floundering Chicago White Sox by a score of 7 to 1 at Comiskey
Park.

Philadelphia started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first scoring a single run using 2 hits.  Eddie Murphy drew a walk.
Murphy swiped second base.  Jimmy Walsh then hit a one-base hit scoring the
run.  Walsh took second on the throw.  Philadelphia had a total of 8 hits for
the game.  

Plank(8-4) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. The losing pitcher
was Jim Scott(7-9).  He had trouble throwing strikes and issued 9 walks in 6
and 2/3 innings.  

'Plank took our guys to school' Nixey Callahan said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch
for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'
