St. Louis had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Ward Miller was the sparkplug when he drew a walk. Miller got a good lead and stole second. One out later, Art Kores then laced a one-base hit plating a run. Ed Willett followed next and he delivered a single. Delos Drake stepped into the box and doubled giving St. Louis the win as 1,550 happy fans joyfully celebrated. St. Louis rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon. Willett(4-1) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Fred Anderson(8-10) was given the loss. Fielder Jones was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
