Bubba Church went 10 solid innings and second baseman Solly Hemus collected 2
extra-base hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs bested the New York-AL Yankees in 10
innings 3 to 2 at Wrigley Field.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Chicago-NL won the
game in the 10th inning. Walker Cooper doubled. Johnny Wyrostek was next to
the plate, but was promptly struck out. Hemus then doubled resulting in an
exciting win for Chicago-NL and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Both teams finished the game with 7 hits.

The win went to Church(5-4) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Bob Kuzava(5-4)
was given the loss in relief. 'Church gave us exactly what we needed today.'
Ron Mead said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They
were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
