Cal Abrams smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs outscored

Abrams provided much of the offense. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
8th inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 9th
inning. Chicago-NL kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.
Sal Maglie(14-1) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Maglie got
relief help from Hersh Freeman who gained credit for his 2nd save. The loss
was charged to Ned Garver(12-11). He surrended 4 homeruns in his 7 and 2/3
