and Charlie Gould had 2 base hits as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the St.
Louis Brown Stockings 11 to 3 at Avenue Grounds.
Cincinnati started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first scoring 5 runners on 1 hit. That scoring would be all that was
needed. Cincinnati rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.
Cummings(3-10) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Joe
Blong(3-8) was the loser. He was not very effective, surrendering 11 runs in
8 innings.
