Ed Seward tossed a complete game and catcher Wilbert Robinson had 3 base hits
and 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Athletics pulled out a win over the pathetic
New York Metropolitans by a score of 7 to 6 at Jefferson St Grounds.

The game was won by Philadelphia with a run in the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Henry Larkin laced a base-hit. Larkin got a great jump and
stole second easily. Jocko Milligan then reached on an error. Philadelphia
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. One out later,
Philadelphia got their 2nd stolen base of the inning. Robinson kept the
rally going and slapped a single giving Philadelphia the victory as 2,651
happy fans celebrated wildly. Philadelphia had a total of 10 hits for the
game.

The victory went to Seward(18-10) who went the distance allowing 6 runs. Al
Mays(10-23) suffered the loss. He allowed 7 runs and 10 hits in 8 and 2/3
innings.
