Babe Adams retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Baker Bowl where the
blistering-hot Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 11
innings by the score of 5 to 3.

Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings.  Pittsburgh came out the
victor in the 11th inning.  Fred Clarke led off the inning for Pittsburgh
when he drew a walk.  Honus Wagner followed and he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run.  Although they lost, Philadelphia did out-hit Pittsburgh 11
to 7.  

Adams(8-6) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Eddie Stack(2-6)
suffered the loss.  Adams was pleased with his performance.  He noted, 'I had
good command of all my pitches.  Just as important, my location was right
on.'
