WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Zack Wheat robbed Jimmy Austin of a Homerun!

In a tight game it was the St. Louis-AL Browns 7, the woeful Detroit Tigers 5
at Navin Field.

Detroit found themselves trailing quickly as the St. Louis-AL bats came
through in the first inning when they tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. The critical
plate appearance was by Hans Lobert who silenced the stadium when he clubbed
a two-run home run. St. Louis-AL finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Claude Hendrix(11-8) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 7 innings. Ed Reulbach
recorded the save, his 29th. Roy Mitchell(8-14) was the loser. He allowed 3
homeruns in 8 innings of work.

With this win, St. Louis-AL has a 61-43 record. They have been 7-3 lately.
Jim Murphy was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering
along lately, something like 2-8 in the last week or two. That won't get it
done.'
