WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Ted Easterly blocked the plate, saving a run!

Art Griggs went deep and had 2 RBI at Washington Park as the Brooklyn club
beat the Kansas City Packers in 13 innings by the count of 9 to 8.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Brooklyn came out
on top in the 13th inning. Yip Owens laced a base-knock. John McGraw next
to the plate and he reached on an error. After an out was recorded, Jim
Delahanty then reached on an error making Brooklyn the victor and beginning a
joyous home town celebration. This was a game of many highs and lows for the
home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

McGraw(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. The loss was
charged to Gene Packard(7-12) in relief. He was unable to control the
Brooklyn offense and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
