In a close game the Detroit Tigers got by the woeful Philadelphia Athletics by
the score of 6 to 4.

Detroit jumped on top to stay in the 3rd inning as they scored 2 runs on 1
base hits. Despite losing, Philadelphia out-hit Detroit 12 to 9.

The victory was credited to Jean Dubuc(9-14) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Dubuc was helped out by Red Oldham who recorded his 7th
save. John Wyckoff(5-20) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 6 runs and 8
hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Hughie Jennings said after the game. 'Dubuc did not have
command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew
how to pitch!'
