Al Dark slammed a homerun at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh Pirates beat
the Chicago-NL Cubs in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Pittsburgh was
victorious in the 11th inning.  Dark hit a bases-empty home run resulting in
an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a raucous post-game celebration by the
home town fans.  Both teams totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Jack Harshman(6-6) who went 4 innings, allowing 4
runs. Bob Chakales(4-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 3
innings giving up 2 hits and 2 walks.
