Thomas Lynch had a complete game and George Gore hit 2 doubles as the Chicago
White Stockings defeated the Cleveland Blues by a score of 8 to 5 at Lake
Front Park.

Chicago scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The crucial at-bat was
provided by Billy Sunday who made the crowd happy when he launched a
three-run homer.  Chicago took care of Cleveland with no trouble in the 9th.

Lynch(1-0) finished the game allowing 5 runs in the victory. Jim
McCormick(20-18) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings allowing 10
hits and 5 walks.
