Kid Nichols allowed Frank Selee to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Charlie Ganzel collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI as the Boston
Beaneaters defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 12 to 6 at South End
Grounds.

Boston started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first as they scored 5 runs on 4 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Ganzel
who made the crowd happy when he tripled with all three runners coming home.
Boston had a total of 18 hits for the game.  

The winning pitcher was Nichols(16-9) who allowed 6 runs for the game. Kid
Carsey(13-11) was hit with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 18 hits and 2
walks in 8 innings.
