Jesse Tannehill delivered 11 solid innings as the potent Pittsburgh Pirates
defeated the woeful New York Giants in 12 innings 2 to 1 at Polo
Grounds.

The score was tied at 1 after nine.  Pittsburgh won the hard fought contest in
the 12th inning.  Wid Conroy reached on an error.  Two outs later Fred Clarke
came to bat and lined a single scoring the run.  Neither team was able to
score until the 7th inning.  

Tannehill(14-5) allowed 1 run in 11 innings, and picked up the victory. Ed
Doheny gained credit for his 2nd save.  Christy Mathewson(9-10) was tagged
with the loss.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in
his 12 innings of work.
