Catcher Charlie Dexter blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh
Pirates defeated the Philadelphia-NL Phillies in 12 innings by a score of 6
to 5 at Exposition Park.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Finally, Pittsburgh prevailed
in the 12th inning.  Rabbit Robinson singled.  Fritz Buelow followed and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  One out later, Billy Gilbert then laced a
base-knock giving Pittsburgh the victory and sending the 3,378 home-town fans
home happy.  Despite losing, Philadelphia-NL out-hit Pittsburgh 14 to 11.

Gus Dorner(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 5 innings. Jack
McFetridge(1-5) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 5 hits in 5
and 1/3 innings.
