First baseman Dick Hoblitzell cracked a homer and had 4 RBI and Russ Ford
pitched a complete game as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the New York-NL
Giants 9 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

Hoblitzell had a good day at the plate.  He blasted a two-run home run in the
5th inning, doubled scoring a run in the 7th inning and delivered a one-base
hit in the 9th inning.  Chicago-NL rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.

Ford(12-8), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Pete
Alexander(11-15) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around, surrendering
8 runs in 7 innings.
