Jim Scott had an impressive outing and Sam Crawford had 2 base hits and 2 RBI
at West Side Park as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago-NL Cubs 3 to
0.
Pittsburgh took the lead for keeps in the top of the 3rd inning scoring a
single run. Johnny Bates drew a walk. Two outs later Crawford stepped in
and he tripled scoring the run. That early scoring held up. Pittsburgh
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
It was the 6th shutout of the year for Scott(16-8). Russ Ford(3-10) was the
loser. He gave up 4 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
