Ray Keating(9-8) was in control of the game from the outset.  He didn't allow
much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  New York bats were hot
in the 1st inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits.  The New York
offense smacked the Detroit pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9
innings.  

Johnnie Williams(0-3) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 11 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings of work.
