Bernie Boland allowed Hughie Jennings to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and right fielder Sam Crawford hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as
the Detroit Tigers man-handled the pitiful Philadelphia Athletics - the final
score was 13 to 3.
Crawford enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 1st inning, lined a single in the 4th inning and
singled which brought home a run in the 6th inning. Detroit dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Boland(12-1) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Tom
Sheehan(0-3) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 15 hits and 3 walks in 6
