one-run game at Crosley Field.  The final score was the Philadelphia-NL
Phillies 8, the Cincinnati Reds 7 in 10 innings.

Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings.  Philadelphia-NL was
victorious in the 10th inning.  Stan Musial hit a single.  Al Rosen came next
and he delivered a base-hit.  Dom Dimaggio then laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Hank Bauer came up and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Jackie
Jensen stepped into the box and drew a walk scoring the run.  Overall
Philadelphia-NL out-hit Cincinnati 18 to 13.  

Monty Kennedy(4-2) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Jim Konstanty got the save, his 1st.  Preacher Roe(2-4) was hit with
the loss in relief.
