Chicago-NL scored 2 runs in the decisive 2nd inning when they came up with 3 base hits. Woodling kicked off the action when he stroked a base-hit. Ferris Fain stepped up next and he drew a walk. Carl Furillo then banged out a single driving in a run. Matt Batts stepped in and he grounded into a double play scoring the final run of the inning. Philadelphia-AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Roberts(12-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Bob Lemon(14-11) was the loser.
