Dan Brouthers smacked 2 triples and had 2 RBI and Ed Stein carried a no-hitter
into the 8th inning as the Brooklyn Grooms topped the Boston Beaneaters by a
score of 12 to 6 at Eastern Park.

Stein(11-11) gave a fine effort for Brooklyn.  He surrendered 6 hits and 5
walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.  The right-handStein lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Joe Quinn singled with nobody out in the 8th inning.  Brooklyn
had 13 hits overall, while Boston had 6.  

The losing pitcher was Jack Stivetts(18-12).  He got hit pretty hard, allowing
13 hits and 8 walks in 8 innings.
