WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Bill Harbridge robbed Dasher Troy of an extra base hit.

Right fielder Monte Ward had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Mickey Welch had a
complete game as the New York Gothams outscored the Philadelphia Quakers 16
to 9.

Philadelphia was unable to claim the lead after New York went ahead in the top
of the 7th inning when they came up with 3 runs on 5 hits. The key at-bat
was by Frank Hankinson who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when
he slapped a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. New York lit up the
scoreboard in the 9th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits. New York
simply wore out the Philadelphia pitching staff, scoring in 6 different
innings.

The win was credited to Welch(15-15) who went the whole way allowing 9 runs.
John Coleman(8-35) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around by New York,
allowing 25 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
