Pretzels Getzien tossed a complete game and second baseman Charlie Ganzel hit
3 doubles and had 3 RBI at Swampoodle Grounds where the Detroit Wolverines
beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 10 to 8.

Detroit had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs utilizing 2
base hits.  Getzien led off and started the rally when he doubled.  After an
out was recorded, Dan Brouthers came up and he drew a walk.  Ted Scheffler
then drew a walk to load the bases.  Deacon White was up next and he stroked
a base-hit which was good for two runs.  It was roller coaster of a game as
the lead change hands 7 times.  

Getzien(14-16), allowing 8 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Wild Bill
Widner(1-2) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around by Detroit,
allowing 17 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.
