Tom Lovett was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game and right fielder Bob Caruthers had 2 base hits as the Brooklyn Grooms
outscored the Cleveland Spiders 5 to 4.

The deciding run was scored by Brooklyn in the 8th.  Tom Kinslow lashed a
single.  Lovett was next and he reached on an error.  Caruthers then
delivered a one-base hit scoring the run.  The game was a wild affair with
the lead changing hands 5 times.  

Lovett(16-14) allowed 4 runs on the game. John Shearon(1-1) took the loss.  He
surrendered 10 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings.  With this win, Brooklyn has a
