WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Shorty Fuller robbed Tom Daly of a base hit.

Amos Rusie pitched a complete game at Eastern Park where the New York Giants
beat the Brooklyn Grooms in 10 innings by the score of 8 to 7.

The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings. New York ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. Eddie Burke drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Shorty Fuller stepped in and he laced a one-base hit. Rusie then
laid down a sacrifice bunt. General Stafford was up next and he slapped a
base-hit scoring the run. This was a game of many highs and lows for the
home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Rusie(23-10), allowing 7 runs for the game, picked up the victory. George
Sharrott(0-3) took the loss. He pitched 9 and 2/3 innings allowing 10 hits
and 4 walks.

'He gutted it out' John Ward said of Rusie. 'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'
