Second baseman Larry Doyle had 2 base hits and 5 RBI and Rube Schauer stopped
Cincinnati cold as the New York Giants topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score
of 12 to 4 at Redland Field.

New York took the lead for keeps in the top of the 4th inning when they scored
2 runs on 1 hit. The big moment was provided by Fred Brainard who silenced
Redland Field as he laced a one-base hit which was good for two runs. New
York had 11 hits for the afternoon while Cincinnati had 8.

Christy Mathewson(9-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings
and allowing 4 runs. Schauer recorded the save, his 2nd. The losing pitcher
was Pete Schneider(8-13).
