Enos Slaughter had 5 hits and 2 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds
beat the New York Yankees in 10 innings by the count of 9 to 6.

Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings.  Finally, Cincinnati
prevailed in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Phil Masi began the
Cincinnati spurt when he doubled.  Preacher Roe followed next and he laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  Jackie Robinson then doubled bringing in a run.
Slaughter followed and he ripped a one-base hit driving in one more runner.
Slaughter took second on the throw.  Bob Elliott came up to bat and laced a
single, and an error was also committed, scoring the final run of the inning.
Cincinnati had 15 hits overall, while New York had 10.  

Roe(8-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Roe got help from Ted Wilks
who was credited with his 12th save.  Ken Heintzelman(4-6) was hit with the
loss in relief.
