Johnny Groth collected 3 extra-base hits and had 5 RBI and Fred Hutchinson
tossed a complete game as the Boston-AL Red Sox topped the hopeless New
York-AL Yankees by a score of 7 to 3 at Yankee Stadium.

Groth had a good day at the plate.  He doubled scoring two baserunners in the
1st inning, doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning and tripled bringing
home two baserunners in the 7th inning.  Boston-AL rapped out 12 hits for the
afternoon.  

The victory went to Hutchinson(9-11) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Bob Kuzava(4-11) suffered the loss.  He was unable to control the Boston-AL
offense and allowed 12 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
