Connie Marrero tossed a complete game at Fenway Park where the New York-AL
Yankees beat the Boston-AL Red Sox by the score of 7 to 3.

Hank Sauer provided the offensive punch.  He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 1st inning, tripled knocking in a run in the 5th
inning and laced a base-knock in the 7th inning.  New York-AL managed 12 hits
in their victory.  

The win went to Marrero(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Mickey
McDermott(6-8) absorbed the loss.  He was unable to control the New York-AL
offense and allowed 11 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
