The Chicago-NL Cubs and the Philadelphia-AL Athletics locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Wrigley Field.  The final score was the Chicago-NL Cubs 7,
the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 6.

Chicago-NL scored 2 runs in the 5th inning.  The crucial at-bat was provided
by Pee Wee Reese who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he cracked a
two-run shot.  Chicago-NL rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Larry Jansen(8-11) who allowed 6 runs in 7 innings.
Jansen got help from Howie Judson who earned his 2nd save.  Bob Lemon(13-5)
was charged with the loss.  His ERA ballooned from 1.92 to 2.18 as he allowed
6 runs in 5 innings.  

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Jansen, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
