In a startling finish the Boston Beaneaters staged a comeback then held on to
win over the Washington Senators by a score of 9 to 8 at Boundary
Field.

Boston scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  Hugh Duffy got things going when he hit a single.
Herman Long next to the plate and he reached on an error.  Charlie Ganzel
then smacked a single to load the bases.  After an out was recorded, Tommy
Tucker stepped in and he banged out a one-base hit knocking home two runners.
Jack Stivetts came to the plate and reached on an error scoring the final
run of the inning.  Boston managed 13 hits in their victory.  

The win went to Harry Staley(14-8) who allowed 6 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Frank Killen(13-17) was given the loss.  He surrendered 10 hits and 2 walks
in 8 innings.
